Well winter has arrived and there is definitely a chill in the air that makes you want to pull up the quilt and snuggle back under in the morning. (we wish!)
We have had a beautiful autumn and sunny winter days can also be very pleasant. The great thing about this time of the year is that it lends itself to lots of stitching. Perhaps you need to drag out that quilt that needs to be quilted, a perfect way to keep warm. Or maybe this is the winter that you promised yourself a class to help get those UFO's finished. I am so glad that we added some more sit n sew classes last term because this is clearly something that appeals to many of you, a casual relaxed atmosphere to share your stitching stories.

For those girls that started their classes early in the year we are seeing some of their projects well on their way and in some cases finished. Show and tell this year will be the most diverse that we have ever had.....I can't wait to see them.

Thanks to Alice for the lovely Mothers day projects that she made this year. They were very sweet and I am sure that many of you who could not attend the workshops will be keen to get the patterns that are now in the shop. A little later Alice is offering another workshop in her beautiful cards. Keep your eyes open for this one. Janna has more blocks to show us in her mystery sampler, showing the diversity in her techniques.....they are looking great!!!!

Margaret's Sampler is looking great with most of the girls opting for the pretty pink version. And Sue's girls are getting through their Blue Bird quilts with another great variety of colour as Sue encourages them to be individual.
The "Friday" girls are incredibly industrious and have made bags, runners, quilts and all manner of things and there is still half a year to go. We have also seen some lovely baby gifts to come out of classes this year, there must be something in the air! I suspect that Christmas projects will show themselves very soon. (scary to even think about!!!!)
Congratulations to Sue Morgan for winning the "email stitching hamper," she was thrilled with all her little stitching treasures. This was Sue's third change of email address since we have been offering the hamper, I think she was pleased that she had updated her details. We have decided to make each hamper reflect the season that it is won in - hence Sue's hamper contained autumn themed colours and ideas.

Deliveries of fabrics recently have seen the arrival of "HEARTS AMORÈ" a pretty little hearts and flowers range that looks great in apparel as well as quilts and
small projects. There is also a lovely Christmas range getting ready for our Christmas in July projects with a mixture of small and large prints. A few extra colours in homespun and more of the extra wide quilt backs.

Also look out for the new patterns from Country Ally and new Jelly Roll & Layer Cake books. Plenty of ideas to keep you busy this winter.

As well as these sweet fabrics we have added some gorgeous new framed prints to our range and more baby fabrics on the way. Another new product to keep

your eyes open for are the beautiful cupcakes from Kylie they look "good enough to eat"

****Some new classes added to the program for this term****

1st & 3rd Tuesday morning 6 classes (2 classes for each design) - scrapaholics class - 3 new quilts designed specifically to use your scraps. These are made with templates and can be either hand of machine pieced. Make them as small or as large as you like, do 1 or do all 3.

2nd Tuesday evening 6 classes - Christmas Club / an evening class for those that need it, to get everything ready for Christmas.

1st Friday afternoon 6 classes - Shabby Stars - this is one of Sue's favourite quilts back by popular demand.
3rd Sunday 10.00 : 3.30 Friendship Group with Margaret
5th Saturday 10.00 : 2.00 Machine Quilting with Sue next one (31st July)
Various workshops are held on the 5th week in the month we will notify you by email or on the website.

Workshop dates to be advised

"Shaggy Chic" this fun and easy technique still proves to be popular and is so effective. No matter whether you choose traditional or modern fabrics this is a fun quilt to make. This is often a popular one that can be stitched for a new baby! (you will leave with the top complete).

"Attic Stack" another old faithful that sill has a big following. Designed to finish the quilt top in the day.

"Sewing Classes" There has been some requests for making clothing and home decorator items using our lovely cottons, rather than the polyesters that are ready made in many of the stores. We need a longer class for this and will be looking at the program to see where we can fit it in. Look out for the samples. We will keep you posted!!!!!!

"Bias, Binding, Rotary Cutter & Rulers" Many classes assume that their students now the use of these products. In many cases they do not. This workshop steps through all of the basic tools and their uses.

"Confidence with Colour" If I had a dollar for all the girls that say the hardest job in patchwork is choosing the colours, I would be wealthier than Oprah. While it is true that for some it just comes naturally, there are also tips to learn that can take the difficulty out of this task. The workshop walks you through some of the tricks of the trade to making your selection simpler next time.

Attic Quilts class policy is a minimum of 4 classes. Classes are required to be paid one in advance after this. A missed class incurs a $10.00 missed class fee. If you are not attending a phone call would be appreciated. Please keep mobile phones on mute out of consideration for your fellow class members. A minimum of 4 people is required to start a class, so it is recommended to only buy your requirements when you know that the class will be going ahead. With the high demand for classes bookings are essential. School Holiday & Public Holiday classes are at the discretion of the teacher. Light refreshments are available on tap for your enjoyment.
